Glorious Series – Picks

August 2nd Saturday Bet 5 of 5

We have placed a batch of £2 EW combination Lucky 15s, so overall cost £300. It’s been far from glorious for us so far at both Goodwood and Galway, but we go again in a bid to boost the present meagre returns so far.

Selections and approximate odds below:

Goodwood 3.05: COMMANCHE FALLS 20-1 drifted to 28-1 and was just chinned for 6th. Massive gamble Two Tribes backed from 16-1 into 11-2 with Strike Red at 9-1 in second with Jakajaro at 16-1 in third and Run Boy Run at 10-1 in 4th and Twilight Calls at 50-1 in 5th and Circe at 12-1 beating us to 6th by a short head.

Galway 3.12: WATCH THE WEATHER 8-1 no prizes for 8th as Winning Smut 13-2JF won from Fascile Mode at 33-1 with 8-1 shots Chart Topper and Teed Up in 3rd and 4th.

Goodwood 3.45: MIAMI MATRIX 20-1 had every chance, but faded badly ahead of 2-1fav Headmaster. Mudbir at 4-1 won from Dance In The Storm at 14-1 with Aurora Majesty at 22-1 in third just ahead of Montpellier at 18-1 in 4th with Yah Mo Be There at 12-1 in 5th.

Thirsk 4.05: RHYTHM MASTER 5-1 backed into 10-3 and won cosily from Eldrickjones!

Goodwood 4.55: KILLYBEGS WARRIOR 20-1 faded into about 7th or 8th as warm 11-8fav Gladius won from Whip Cracker at 17-2 with Linwood at 22-1 in third ahead of Indalo at 16-1 in 4th. On first check returns on the day are £104.

August 1st Friday Bet 4 of 5

We have placed two batches of £1 EW combination Lucky 15s, so £150, so overall cost £300. We have two selections in the 1.20 the other four are the same in both batches of bets.

Selections and approximate odds:

Goodwood 1.20: KYLE OF LOCHALSH 9-2/ZINC WHITE 13-2 our first pick drifted to 5-1 beating Mordor at 5-1 comfortably with Oxford Comma at 16-1 back in third with Bashful Boy at 40-1 in 4th. Our other pick was backed into 11-2, but finished back in 10th.

Goodwood 2.30: DUTCH DECOY 15-2 drifted to 11-1 and never got a run – his stablemate Rhoscolyn at 11-2 won well from EBTs Guard at 11-1 with Real Gain at 12-1 in third and Greek Order at 6-1 in 4th with 9-2fav Fifth Column in 5th and Tribal Chief at 11-2 in 6th. Our lad finished 12th.

Goodwood 4.55: RIDE THE THUNDER 7-1 4th when paying 4 places we think and if that’s correct then returns on the day should be £85.60 – will confirm when collected.

Galway 6pm: CAVE COURT 15-2 backed into 9-2fav and about 12th.

Galway 7.40: DANCE FOR CHESTER 5-1 another that could manage around 12th. Just the one winner in the first race, but to split stakes so not fantastic returns.

Thursday July 31st Bet 3 of 5

We have placed two batches of £1 EW combination Lucky 15s, so £150, so overall cost £300. We have two selections at big prices in the 1.20 the other four are the same in both batches of bets. The 3-1fav will run a big race in the 1.20, but as readers of our book know we prefer a longshot. The Wolverhampton race is on ITV4 this evening as part of their Racing League coverage.

Selections and approximate odds:

Goodwood 1.20: BRIZE NOIR 50-1/JANEY MACKERS 18-1 no prizes for 12th and 15th and as suspected Best Secret 7-2fav won by a neck from Marabah Ghaiyyath at 6-1 with Fort George at 15-2 in third and Daiquiri Bay at 9-1 in 4th.

Goodwood 3.45: DAN TUCKER 5-1 backed all the way into 7-2fav, but never in the race under Ryan Moore. Naana’s Sparkle at 15-2 beat Getreadytorumble at 15-2 with Ruby’s Profit at 11-2 in third.

Galway 4.30: DYSART ENOS 15-2 expected to run a much better race but disappointed massively. Helvic Dream at 8-1 won from Ndaawi at 13-2, but after a stewards inquiry the placing were reversed, with Casheldale Lad at 14-1 in third and Tounsivator at 14-1 in 4th and Gaucher at 28-1 in 5th.

Goodwood 5.30: GILET 25-1 (but with the way the ground has gone have had a personal saver on Atherstone Warrior ew five places) Awful – trouble in running coming for that wide rail for both of those. Primcipality at 20-1 won well. Another poor day so far!

Wolverhampton 8.15: BELIEVE THE STORM 9-2 could only manage 4th, as Mr Swivel at 7-2fav won from Shamrock Bay at 15-2 with Tilted Kilt at 7-1 just ahead of our lad in third. Our second wipeout of the week, so things need to improve.

Wednesday July 30th Bet 2 of 5

After yesterday’s all round disaster – things can only get better, in the words of the song.We left the Series open for a further 24 hours due to the issues, so have got a few extra members in taking the syndicate total up to 92 so far.

We have placed a batch of £1.80 EW combination Lucky 15s so overall spend on the day £270. We closed the syndicate this afternoon with 93 memberships in place for the Series.

Selections and approximate odds below:

Goodwood 1.20: SUDO 4-1 drifted to 11-2 and pulled too hard early and faded right out of contention. Omni Man at 8-1 won well with Mdawi at 22-1 in second and Kukarra at 4-1 back in third.

Goodwood 1.55: TABITI 7-2 drifted to 9-2 and a deadheat with stablemate Saqqara Sands at 16-1 with 7-2fav Bright Thunder back in third.

Goodwood 3.45: LADY CHARTWELL 25-1 backed into 22-1 and had every chance, but got squeezed up and finished 8th. Ashariba at 8-1won well from Wonder Star at 5-1 with Model Yuko at 8-1 in third with Akecheta at 12-1 in 4th.

Goodwood 4.55: DEFENCE MINISTER 11-2 ran a solid race for a three-year-old in 4th. Great Acclaim at 18-1 won from Cracking Gold at 16-1 with Native Warrior at 9-2fav in third ahead of our lad.

Galway 6.40: OLYMPIC MAN 16-1 clouted the 3rd and the 8th and was pulled up. Western Fold at 11-1 won the race. So a winner in a dead heat and a place, an improvement on yesterday, but must do better – tomorrow as well as Goodwood and Galway in the afternoon we also have some good Racing League action from Wolverhampton in the evening, which is live on ITV4 plenty to get stuck into. From here in the plan is £2 ew combination Lucky 15s for the last three days of this series. Returns on the day £86.34.

Tuesday July 29th – Bet 1 of 5

After the belated July Series payout, due to young Joseph’s nasty accident, we got hit by an issue with our host server, something completely out of our control.

We are as a result keeping the Series open overnight …the crash happened in the middle of members buying in around 10.40am.
We had gone to place our combination ew Lucky 15s, so £2.20 ew costing £330. We couldn’t post the bet, but did manage to text members with their mobile numbers logged with us. Apologies again if we missed anyone, but as it was a bit fraught just before that first race we did our best.

Selections and approximate odds below:

Goodwood 1.20: SIR BUSKER 33-1 no prizes for 15th as gambled on Westridge at 6-1 won well.

Goodwood 1.55: ANDAB 5-1 another with trouble in running and 6th not good enough.

Goodwood 3.45: ROSARIO 22-1 backed into 18-1, but drawn on the wrong side. A tight finish with Brazen Bolt at 28-1just beating Adrestia at 9-2 with Redorange at 5-1in third and Nogo’s Dream at 40-1in 4th and Canon’s House at 11-1 in 5th.

Goodwood 5.30: SEA EMILY RUN 8-1 drifted to 14-1 and finished 11th.85-40favDubai Treasure won.

Galway 6.40: MISSISSIPPI RIVER 11-2 backed into 4-1fav, but no match for Dunum at 12-1 the winner with our lad out of the frame in 5th. A disastrous start to the Glorious Series – things can only get better.
