York 2.39: CHECKANDCHALLENGE 15-2 drifted to 8-1 and ran on for a solid third behind The Lost King 3-10ft with Mr Swivell at 9-1 in second.

York 3.12: DICKENSIAN 16-1 backed into 14-1 but never in the race and no prize for 7th. Redorange at 12-1 win from Aspect Island at 7-1 with JM Jungle at 9-1 in third.

Newmarket 3.25: AALTO 7-2 drifted to 4-1fav and came from last to first for trainer Ian Williams comfortably beating Back In Black at 5-1 with Elerak at 13-2 in third and the winner’s stablemate Supido at 7-1 in 4th.

York 3.45: CASTLE STUART 12-1 ran on well into 4tb, but Raamee at 5-1 won well from Hand Of God at 11-2 with Salam Dubawi at 80-1 in third ahead of our lad with Danger Bay at 11-2 in 5th with Spell Master in 6th. After a stewards inquiry our lad was promoted to third with Danger Bay in 4th and Salam Dubawi in 5th – the front two keep their places.

Chester 3.52: TIBER FLOW 4-1 drifted to 6-1 and not good enough in 5th despite the trainer fancying him to run a decent race. Northern Champion at 13-2 won from Dash Of Azure at 7-1 with Holguin at 5-1 in third. With a winner and two places it’s not a disastrous start to the Series. Returns on the day £315.88.
